Wordless Wednesday | Cakewalk

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - How did I not know about cakewalks before? If you walk around a circle and land on the lucky number, you win a cake!

2 - When I was in Atlanta earlier this month, I went to the Cabbagetown Reunion outdoor festival where they held a cakewalk as a fundraiser for the local Patch Works Museum. In exchange for $5, I walked around a colored chalk circle and when the music ended I landed on the number eight and had my choice of donated cakes.

3 - There were all sorts of great looking cakes - including a creative one that looked like a plate of spaghetti and meatballs - but I had eyes for only one of them, the chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Yum.

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  2. There's an old episode of The King of Queens where Doug and Carrie get roped into participating in a cakewalk for their church. It's hilarious! How about chocolate volcano cake with hot chocolate lava? :)

    1. I haven't seen that show in ages - I bet it's a funny episode. I love lava cakes - yum!

  3. I've never heard of a cakewalk fundraiser before. What a great idea.

When I look at these photographs I think of how much weight I'd gain if I ate any of these cakes.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. ♥

    1. It's such a good idea. I think I did gain a few pounds as a result of that cake, but it was worth it.

  5. I didn't know what a cake walk was until they had one at my daughter's school. After she won one, I was all... uh... yay, sugar for the kids...

    1. Now that you know what they are, you'll have to find one in your area. Fun and delicious!

  7. We always have a cake walk at our church's fall fest. I usually donate a cake from the store. No one wants the lopsided disaster I would bake.

    1. I can't believe I never heard of these before - it seems like a lot of people have participated in them. I bet you could make a cute minion cake.

  8. Everything looks so delicious. We would love to have a sample of just one cake, ok maybe not one. We love all of them. Sounds like a cake walk is a great time. Thanks for the share. Have a great day.

  9. I think there should be a Cake Walk in a Mollie McGhie mystery. It could be a fundraiser at a holiday event at the marina. The Cake Walk could be rigged so a unsuspecting victim wins a poisoned cake!! Mollie would figure it out at the last minute and save the winner from a yummy, but horrible death.

Too bad the Indiantown Marina Party Posse has disbanded - I can see a Cake Walk right up that alley.

    1. That would work well in the third book since it's titled Poisoned by the Pier. Great idea!

When Tina gets back, I'll put her in charge of the Cake Walk committee. You guys will have to come back for it.

  10. We used to have a cake walk every year at one of our Bible club functions, and we would get parents to make enough cakes that every child got to win a cake. It was so much fun!

    1. Making sure each child wins a cake is such a great way to do it! It's hard enough as an adult if you don't win a cake, but even worse if you're a child :-)

  11. Fun! I’d never heard of cake walks before. And, lucky you to land a cake - a chocolate one! :-)

    1. I was so happy that I got the chocolate cake. The others would have been fine, but chocolate is so much better!

  12. You chose the chocolate upon chocolate? Naw... I don't believe it. ~wink~ Love the painted toenails and flip flops! My toenails are lucky to get trimmed on a regular basis. Heh... Hope book sales are through the roof, my dear (sorry I don't know an equivocal nautical term ~grin~). Be well.
