Hi - we would love to hear from you! If you see us on our boat out on the water, raft-up and say hi. Otherwise, you can send us an email at: thecynicalsailor (at) gmail (dot) com
Kia Ora Ellen I'd just finished reading about your favourite anchorages and looked up to see a spectacular rainbow with more than 180 degrees visible and double on one side. We'll be on the water soon so looking forward to seeing some of the anchorages you've recommended en route to the BOP. Lynn Pink Diamond
Hi Ellen Your blogs have been inspiring so thank you so much for sharing your sailing adventure in Aoteoroa. I'm sorry we didn't manage to meet before you venture back to the Northern Hemisphere. Please continue writing your blog and good luck with your boat and sailing plans for the future. I'll look forward to catching up when you return to The Land of the Long White Cloud. By then we'll no longer be newbies to sailing! Have fun! Ka kite Lynn (Pink Diamond)
I'll be in Auckland for a few weeks yet, so if you get up this way give me a shout. Otherwise, we'll see you when we get back here! You'll be berthing that boat like a pro in no time - I don't think you'll be a newbie for long! Cheers - Ellen
Hi Ellen Very interesting to read about the costs. One thing is certain, it seems a heck of a lot cheaper than being a landlubber! Here's to cruisers and cruising. Lynn
I have nominated your website for a Liebster award. It is pretty strait forward really but is an easy blog to write and should get your own blog more widely noticed. I found I got quiet a few hits from other websites I did not know was out there. It should also create links to your website which is always good for rankings. If you do not want to participate or have already been nominated just let me know so I can add someone else. Full details are on my latest blog which can be found here.
Thanks for the nomination Mark! Mike from This Rat Sailed already tagged us - you can find our answers to the Liebster questions here - http://thecynicalsailor.blogspot.com/2014/08/liebster-award-cruising.html
I think the post "P is for Polar Bears" is really cute! How about "Y is for Yikes it is hot in Florida!" LOL! Good luck with the repairs and getting the boat back in the water. We hope all goes well.
Hi Ellen, I've just amused myself for quite a while sitting below decks on a very windy, rainy day here in Brisbane, Australia, reading through your posts in the A to Z challenge and flicking back through some of your older blogs. I then launched into discovering a number of other cruisers blogs thanks to your excellent links page. We would love you to have a look at our blog too and list it if you like it. Cheers. http://dreamtimesail.blogspot.com.au/
Hi Ellen, I've just recently come across your blog and wanted to let you know I've really enjoyed reading your take on a variety of cruising and life issues. I live in Thames, NZ, enjoy Whitaker's chocolate, and flat whites. I also have a serious question - would you please consider letting me know which brainwashing tactic were successful as I've been gently working on my wife to go cruising (unsuccessfully!) for the last two years. Cheers, Graeme
What I wouldn't give for a flat white right now! You raise a really interesting question about how to brainwash/convince your partner to take off on a boat. As I'm sitting here on our boat just now (without a flat white or Whitaker's), it's actually hard to believe that this is the direction our lives have taken and that Scott's dream has become mine (in some ways, not all). I think I'll do a blog post on this topic, maybe next week, because I know of some couples who this hasn't worked out for and it might be interesting to reflect on why it has for us.
Does she read sailing blogs at all? I know that's one of the things that contributed to me getting hooked.

Hello My name is John Tippett I was living land lock for years. Recently at age 74 bought a trimaran sailboat to fulfill my dream. Share it on You Tube https://youtu.be/OpUQZvRqJgg Like to follow your group, but can see how to do that.
We LOVE when people leave comments. It's so much more fun hearing what you have to say. If you have a blog, make sure you leave a link and I'll be sure to pop on by.

Have a great time heading down to BOP - such great places to see along the way. I wish we would have had more time to explore that area!

That's the hope that it is cheaper than living on land - fingers crossed it turns out that way in the long run!
