Wordless Wednesday | Florida Beach

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - A few weeks ago, some friends and I had a girls day out complete with lunch at a restaurant on the beach at Hutchinson Island in Florida.

2 - It was stinking hot out, but people were still lounging out on the beach soaking up the sun. I stayed in the shade near a fan.

3 - I feel like I shouldn't admit this, but I'm not a big fan of beaches like these. I kind of find the long expanses of sand boring. I much prefer beaches that are nestled in coves, or next to craggy hills, near interesting rock formations etc. Anything to break up the monotony of the endless beach. Anyone else feel this way?

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  2. I agree! Not a fan of long, sandy beaches. They're boring.

  3. I'll take any beach I can get. ~grin~ But I'm not one to soak in the sun. I have a huge umbrella, in fact. Glad you had fun. Be well!

  4. I'm with you on these kinds of beaches. I'd be in the shade on a patio with a cold adult beverage.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥

  5. I don't get to the beach often at all, so I think I'd be happy just visiting one, whether it was boring or not.

    1. That's a good point - if you don't see them often, then it would be fun.

  6. That's why I love the Oregon coastline. Rocks, seals, and an occasional small beach. It's beautiful. Here in NC, it's flat and during the summer, covered in beached whales. (And I don't mean the marine animal.)

    1. Exactly - that's the type of coast I like too. Oregon's coast is stunning.

  7. I'm not a big fan of beaches, but I think that's more about not liking crowds! I'd rather be at a pool with a cocktail.

  8. I actually prefer beaches at dusk. We usually hit them in the evening to 1. avoid the crowds, and 2. not have to wear sunblock. I totally get why you'd prefer the variety of landscape. I'm too busy watching my kids eat sand or dash through the waves to worry about anything else.

    1. Kids eating sand - what would possess them do do that?

  9. I am not a beach person at all, actually I prefer the great indoors :)

    1. I like walking on pretty beaches, but lying there in the sun isn't my cup of tea.

  10. I see this kind of beach so rarely, that it is a treat!

  11. We enjoy the long beaches, i get to take good, long walks and watch the sunrise and sunset. In fact, any beach will do.

  12. I get what you're saying about enjoying more "interesting" kinda beaches, but I'll take any kind of beach I can get. If I had more choices, I might be pickier. :)

    1. Someone else made a similar point - if you don't get to the beach very often, then this kind would be wonderful.

  13. I love beaches with craggy hills and rock formations - any beach where you can hike with the fear of falling and breaking your neck is the best. Greg isn't much for sandy beach sitting - so we never do that, but I enjoy a stroll down a long sandy beach (not as good as hiking an iron shore, though). I like the idea of being on the edge - especially the edge of a continent. Looking out in the nothingness of the water stretching to the horizon, I can visualize my tiny tiny space in the world.

    1. I can't imagine Greg sitting on the beach either, unless maybe it was the kind of beach with a bar stocked with plenty of beer.

  14. I love beaches any way I can get them. Living in Arizona, one of the things I miss about California is the short drive to the beach. visiting a frind in California, we went to Capitola. I drained my battery dry shooting pic after pic of sea, gulls, boats, surf, people. Very happy.

    1. I guess I'm a bit spoiled living relatively close to the beach. Sometimes you don't know what you have until you don't have it anymore.

  15. I'll take any kind of beach. It's been far too long since I've spent a day on one.

    1. You'll have to get to one of the coasts soon - maybe set one of your books on one :-)
