Wordless Wednesday | Are They Out There?

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - I bought a copy of Contact for a dollar at a thrift store last week. It's one of my favorite movies, but I've never read the book. I wonder how much they "Hollywoodized" it? Was Carl Sagan happy with the outcome?

2 - According to this Gallup survey, 60% of Americans think that UFO sightings can be explained by human activity or natural phenomenon. 16% claim that they've personally seen a UFO.

3 - What about you - do you believe in UFOs? Do you believe there's life out there in the universe?

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. I'm sure the book is nothing like the movie.

Once in awhile something appears on the news that is seen by thousands and can't be explained. Something is out there. Mulder is sure of it.

  2. I would think there is something out there in the vast universe. We are but a speck. I'd say yes, but what.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. ♥

  4. So does Carl Sagan believe in UFOs? I think I'd trust his educated opinion on the subject.

You really need to go to the the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, NM. It is a little bit kitschy but also informative about the famous UFO crash outside Roswell. There is also a big research room with books, articles, and papers. If I ever catch my blog up I will have a post about it.

  6. If we are not alone, they've proven how smart they are by staying away from us.

  7. I don't think there is life out there. My hubby loves Sci-fi books and movies though :)

  8. As a kid I came up with the notion that people who thought they saw angels were actually witness to benevolent alien visitation. :) And though I want to believe, I cannot argue with those scientists who say the odds are slim, especially finding an alien culture in a similar state of advancement.

I'm so sorry Tickety Boo is still landlocked. I would be beyond frustrated.

And I'm so grateful not to have been born an underpivileged Indian woman. ~shudders~ Growing up to live when and where I do is unbelievably lucky.

Take care, my dear, and Happy Writing!

  9. I think it's arrogant beyond belief for us to believe we're the only intelligent (And I use the term loosely...) beings in the entire universe. I'd say the odds of that being true are astronomical.
