Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - What, you think the blog post title was misleading? Were you expecting pictures of fields of wheat and corn growing on the deck of our sailboat? No, this is "farming" cruiser style by growing sprouts.
2 - One of my friends has a sprouter which I've been fascinated by. I finally broke down an ordered one, along with a sampler back of seeds, on Amazon. What would we do without Amazon? Oh, yeah, that's right, we'd have more money and a lot less stuff.
3 - It's actually quite easy, and tasty too. Now, we'll never suffer from a lack of fresh greens while we're out cruising.

DeleteI wouldn't do this, but I get it. We don't do the same kind of boating that you do. Great idea for those long hauls you do.

DeleteWe have a multi tiered sprouter, and quite a few seeds, but I have been lazy about getting it started. I love the greens, so I just need to Do It.

DeleteFresh sprouts are so tasty. Enjoy! I had one but couldn't get the light right. Our single sunniest window puts a glare on the television and SO complained. ~sigh~ If I understand correctly, you overwinter at the marina, so are you looking forward to sailing season?
ReplyDeleteAh, it's a bit different in Florida. Winter is actually cruising season here. The rest of the year is hurricane season (June 1 - Nov 30) and a lot of people stay put or stay outside of the hurricane zone then. It looks like we may have missed out on this season as Scott is overseas right now. :-(

DeleteI like it! I'm eager to start growing some herbs aboard our boat, but my husband gives me the stink eye every time I mention it because there's still so much that needs to be done to the actual boat. We really don't have the room yet. But when we do, a sprouter looks like an awesome option!
ReplyDeleteBut herbs would make meals so much more tasty and everyone needs tasty meals to make up for long, hot days doing boat projects :-)
