Usually, Normal & Abnormal | A Few Of My Favorite Words

Usually, I have blogs posts written and scheduled in advance. Not today.

I like the word >>usually<<. It refers to normal conditions, which means that sometimes there are abnormal conditions.

Sure, you could argue that abnormal conditions are undesirable or worrying - they're not >>normal<<. But you could also argue that sometimes it's good to not be stuck in the normal.

Right now, things are >>abnormal<< around here. I'm completely focused on editing my manuscript and getting it ready for my beta readers. If things were normal, I'd try editing for a few minutes, get frustrated, and find something else to do, like writing blog posts. Instead, I spend hours and hours each day working on it.

Maybe this abnormal will become my new normal.

So what this means for you is that there isn't an exciting blog post today, just some weird ramblings about a few of my favorite words.

But to make that up to you, here's a picture of one of the things that interrupted my editing this morning. If you know what it is, you'll probably wrinkle your nose and say >>gross<<. If you don't know what it is, consider yourself lucky.

What are your favorite words? Have things been normal or abnormal for you lately?

Thanks for stopping by our blog - we love it when people come visit! We're also on Facebook - we'd love for you to pop by and say hi!

  1. Is that for pumping out septic tanks? No wrinkling will help.
    Keep working on that manuscript!

  2. A plumper was working on our toilet back in the day and he said, "Smell that? Do you know what that smells like?" We said yes and wrinkled up our noses. He said, "It's smells like money."

Have a normal day as I plan to do. ☺

    1. That's too funny! I love a plumber with a sense of humor. You'd kind of need one for that job.

  3. I overuse the word 'frankly'. It's a habit I endeavor to break, but, frankly, it's a useful word and it just rolls out there without being bidden.

    1. Frankly is a delightful word. It reminds me of frankfurters, which is a much more fun way of saying hot dog.

  4. Abnormal can certainly become normal. I like the word “usually,” too.

    Good luck with edits!

  5. Abnormal became my new normal. The chaos is now the balance.

  6. Keep on working! :) Last week wasn't normal for me as I had my mom visiting, but it was fun.

  7. The older I get, the more often the things I used to consider abnormal have become normal. Usually, when those changes involve things like aging, they're not such a good thing. In your case, however, I hope doing abnormal editing becomes the happy norm. That's definitely a good thing. Have fun with it!

  9. Good for you! I'm guessing that tank is for pumping out human waste from shipboard toilets. Am I right? Do I get a prize? ~grin~ I'm writing so much that every time I try to type 'right' anywhere I start to type it 'write', a sort of Freudian slip I guess.

  10. No idea what that is, so I guess I'm lucky?

Good luck with the editing. Sometimes, projects are worth missing a blog post or two for.

  11. NaNo is the new normal around here. What does that look like? A lot of crying and a lot of caffeine. I'm not saying who around here is doing the crying or who is drinking the caffeine. :o

  12. I'm convinced that normal doesn't really exist and usually is a fleeting idea.

  13. A manuscript! How exciting. I can think of few things I enjoy as much as rewrites and edits (I'm serious). Something about having that complete manuscript to play with offers so many interesting options. Best of luck!
