Wordless Wednesday | Fortune Teller In Singapore

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - This lady had a bird that would pick out your fortune for you with its beak.

2 - Whenever I eat a fortune cookie, if I like what the little slip of paper says, I'll stick it in my wallet and carry it around with me for good luck.

3 - I've been very fortunate in my life.

What words does this picture bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. Cool she had a bird.
To me, the picture says authentic. (As in, a real fortune teller compared with what we see in movies.)

  2. She makes a lot of effort to put on jewelry and do her hair - yet her nail polish is chipped. I've never heard of a bird fortune teller - that's cool! Can all birds tell fortunes? If it's just this bird, how did she find and pick it? Great photos!

    1. I think you should get Hastings to tell fortunes :-) He could slobber all over the cards and wag his tail enthusiastically when the fortune is a good one.

  3. Now that's a fortune teller! I've dressed up as one, but I don't think I was quite as authoritative as this lady!

    1. How fun! Dressing up as a fortune teller is always a great costume idea for Halloween or fancy dress parties.

  4. It think sometimes a little explanation is helpful on WW posts. All too often I find myself looking at something and thinking 1) what is this or 2) where is this? Very Interesting shots!

PS I do the same thing with fortune cookie fortunes if I like them. :)

  5. I think she's trying to make a living to put food on her table. I hope she does just that.

Have a terrific Wordless Wednesday Ellen. ☺

    1. That's a great way to think about it. She seemed very popular, so hopefully she made some money to help her family out.

  6. About 6 months before I quit my job, I got a fortune cookie that said, "the struggle is over, new beginnings". I kept that one, and it came true!

    1. I thought it was a really fun and interesting take on fortune telling too. I guess if you don't like the fortune, she can just blame the bird :-)

    1. If I like my fortune, I'm a total believer. If I don't like it, then I'm a total cynic :-)

  9. Great shots, Ellen. You have a knack for taking photos of people in their "exotic" natural environment. I don't believe in fortune cookies and I have never been to a fortune teller in my life. I like my future to be a mystery, one that reveals a little bit of itself every day. :-). The words that come to mind are "colorful" and "India" and "poor bird, birds should fly free". Have you ever typed "Worldless Wednesday"? Just curious, as I always mistype this word, initially. :-) And, ironically, since we post photos of the world.

    1. Scott gets all the photography credit. He loves to take pictures of people doing everyday things and I think he does a great job :-)

I don't think I've ever typed Worldless Wednesday, but now I have to go back and check. I'm bound to do it next week now that it's in my head :-)

  10. I'm just curious if you had her tell your future...and what she found out! This sounds odd, but I'm remembering an episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta where they went to another country and a fortune teller told one of them that the man of her dreams was with her. She ended up marrying one of the camera crew who was right there. They didn't get together until later so she had NO idea at the time. It was kind of spooky!

    1. I actually didn't get my fortune told. We just watched and spent our money on ice cream instead. That's an amazing story from Real Housewives. Sometimes, things can be pretty spooky.
