Wordless Wednesday | Tropical Drinks
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - What is it about tiny umbrellas in drinks that makes them so much fun?
2 - I remember getting Shirley Temples when I went out to eat as a little girl. Ginger ale, a splash of grenadine, and a maraschino cherry. It all seemed so fancy, especially when there was a umbrella adorning the drink or the cherry was skewered on a tiny plastic sword.
3 - I don't think I've ever had a drink out of a coconut before. Must get to a tropical island soon and try one.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

I remember Shirley Temples!
ReplyDeleteI remember those Shirley Temples at family events when I was a kid. I think of pina colada too!
ReplyDeleteDrinks out of coconuts are the best! I'm surprised you haven't had one before?
ReplyDeleteI too love drinks with umbrellas. But I thought shirley temples were made with sprite as opposed to ginger ale?
That pictures reminds me of boating and being in or near the water. You need to get your boat fixed and sail away.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. ♥
I think we still have a box of tiny umbrellas somewhere. We use them for smoothies now and then since we don't do mixed drinks.
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of our cruise. Those little drinks would've been at least $15!
ReplyDeleteThe little umbrellas actually remind me of kids' parties! We've used them in the drinks because then they feel fancy. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI used to love Shirley Temples! I was going to order little umbrellas for vacation and forgot to do it. I need to order them for my birthday, if it's even just me doing the celebrating.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I had a drink with an umbrella was with friends for an 18th birthday. We all ordered tequila sunsets just to have a drink with an umbrella.
ReplyDeleteIt was a Shirley Temple for me, a Roy Rogers for my brothers (same thing but root beer instead of ginger ale). Such fun memories!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big one for fancy drinks. Maybe a sprig of mint in a mint julep on derby day.
ReplyDeleteWe prefer drinking fresh coconut water direct from the whole coconut.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a lot of years since I had a drink with a tiny umbrella in it. The closest thing to fancy I do nowadays is put a slice of lemon or lime in my water... does that count?
ReplyDeleteI loved Shirley Temples, but haven't had one in many, many years. Umbrellas make every drink better.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers! You might visit me here.
