Hairless Cats, Living In A Simulation & Blogging Changes

Here's an important question for you all - would you want a hairless cat? Personally, I think cats need fur, otherwise, what's the point? Have a look at the Spynx kittens in this video and let me know what you think.

And now for a slightly harder question - are we living in a simulation? My mom sent me this article which posits that we're part of a simulation (think The Matrix). I've heard about this theory before and read a few sci-fi short stories based on this. Frankly, it's all a bit depressing, so I distract myself from such scary thoughts by playing The Sims. I wonder if they know they're not real?

Some of you may have seen Crystal Collier's post yesterday announcing that she's stepping away from her blog. While I'm sad to see her go, it's totally understandable that she needs to channel her energy toward her family at this point in her life.

It reminded me that I should probably tell you about the change to my blogging schedule. I've mentioned a couple of times that I haven't had the same energy for blogging as in the past, probably because I've been focusing more on writing my cozy mysteries. I still love blogging and am going to keep on with it, but I'm only going to commit to posting here on Mondays and Wednesdays going forward. I'll still do the occasional Friday and Saturday posts when the mood strikes (like today), but those won't be regular posting days.

Do you like hairless cats? Do you think we're living in a simulation?

  1. I'm with you - cats need fur. Otherwise they look like hairless rats.
I've posted only on Mondays except for IWSG day for years. I can handle that. I certainly understand you scaling it back a bit.

    1. Your posts are always so detailed - I bet it takes you a bit of time to put them together. Makes sense to post only once a week.

  2. I think they are adorable cats but I don't think I'd want one.

  3. I love cats, but they need fur for me to play with. IF we are living in a Sim, I do not want to know!

    1. I'm with you - it's best to not know if you're a Sim :-)

  4. No I want a kitty with fur. They just look weird bald. Just saying.

I went over and wished Crystal well. She's a very nice person.

Okay on your new schedule. I get it and I didn't this a long time ago. I also do really easy posts and that helps.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

    1. Crystal is great - she'll be missed in the blogging world.

I'm going to keep doing my Wordless Wednesday posts - they're quite easy and fun to put together.

  5. Cats need fir to stroke! And won’t they be cold, poor thing? I don’t really approve of specific breeds of pet animals. Some of their traits are harmful, eg pugs not being able to breathe properly.

    1. Fur! Cats are not to be confused with fir trees.

    2. Fir vs. Fur - too funny :-) I think those cats would need some adorable sweaters to wear.

  6. I say "no" to hairless cats and "yes" to your new blogging schedule and channeling the focus to your book writing. As far as simulations go, I have often had the sensation that we are being "watched" and "played with" from somewhere else. I don't really believe this, but it's a weird sensation nevertheless.

    1. Maybe you're just one of the people who can see through the simulations and when the programmers catch you doing it, they plant an idea in your mind that it's not to be believed :-)

  7. Hairless cats are so ugly they are cute. We go some at the shelter and i was smitten.

If we are in a simulation, so be it, there's nothing i can do about it anyway.

    1. I've never seen one in person. I hope someone adopted them.

  8. Um, no, no hairless cats for me. They kinda creep me out. (Didja see the episode of "Friends" where Rachael got a hairless cat? Hilarious!)

Good luck with your new blogging sked. Makes sense to me!

    1. I don't remember that episode - I'll have to try to find it. I bet it is hysterical :-)

  9. I want my cat to have fur. Then I can complain about the fur balls. LOL

I'm pretty sure I'm living in reality. Not once have I peed on the floor because someone else was in the bathroom. (I love to play Sims and am amazed at how small their bladders are if you give them so much as a cup of coffee!!)

    1. A fellow Sims lover - yay! It is strangely amusing when they pee on the floor.

  10. I don't like hairless cats. And sometimes we have to change our schedules.

    1. You're right - sometimes schedules do need to change. I think this one will work better for me.

  11. I'm with you--the fur is kind of the point of a cat. Of course, I'm allergic, so I can't have one in any case. But you know.

I am also having to look at adjusting my blogging schedule. It's hard--feels like "giving up" on something. But the novel writing time is more important, and our travel schedule will make it impossible to keep up blog the way I've been doing it. Change is hard, but it's good!

    1. It felt like I was giving up on it too. I felt guilty for some reason, but now I'm feeling better about it. It's so hard to keep up with blogging when you travel.

  12. The fabulous guitarist John 5 (currently playing with Rob Zombie as well as John 5 and the Creatures) has a sphynx that I swear is also a munchkin breed with extra short legs. It's disturbing and adorable at the same time watching that cat photo bomb his person's guitar playing video demonstrations on social media. ~grin~ We prefer cats with fur, needless to say.

Meanwhile, we joke almost every evening that we're living in a simulation. Take for example the time we traveled across the country only to run into family from another part of Ohio at Disney World's Magic Kingdom! We were only there for the haunted mansion while our loved ones were in line for the Dumbo ride. Surreal.

    Happy Writing!

    1. I've had those odd encounters where I've run into people in the strangest spots. Places you wouldn't think they'd turn up in a million years, yet there they are.

  13. Fur is so important...although I don't hold it against those cats for not having any ;) Blogging can get to be a bit much at times and should never overtake writing time.

    1. It just seems odd to have a cat without fur, although maybe I'd fall in love with a hairless one if I met it in person.

Good idea to focus on your writing.

  15. I've never liked hairless cats. They remind me of rats, the poor freezing things!

Blogging is a major commitment, especially of time. Don't feel badly about cutting back.
