Wordless Wednesday | Talk Like A Pirate Day
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - Ahoy, mateys! It's "Talk Like a Pirate Day"!
2 - We're not big on dressing up, but I know people who take every opportunity they can fin to don their pirate apparel.
3 - Did you know that the term "filibuster" has pirate origins? It must be true - I read it here.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

There are lots of pirates out today. It's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Talk Like a Pirate Day. ♥
It was fun to see everyone's pictures of how they dressed up this year :)
DeleteWon't be dressing up but I'm willing to discuss salty seadogs with Simon.
ReplyDeleteSimon says bring a can of tuna and he'll be happy to discuss with you :)
DeleteArr! What be a pirate's favorite letter? Ye might think it be "R", but no, it be the "C"!
ReplyDeleteHah - that made me laugh! :)
DeleteJohnny Depp, but in a good way. Like all the characters he's played in the movies and not his real life that... Well, I'd rather not say.
ReplyDeleteStay safe.
Anna from elements of emaginette
He never really did much for me in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I know that's heresy for some :)
DeleteI don't enjoy dressing in costume either. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe I use all my make-believe energy in words?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not alone. It's like torture to have to dress up. I think you're right - the make-believe happens in my head, not in real life.
DeleteI did not know that about filibuster - but I do now! My favourite pirate is still Captain Pugwash from childhood cartoons.
ReplyDeleteI don't know Captain Pugwash - off to google him!
DeleteInteresting information, matey! Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteThat pic is funny, the poor pirate looks lost on land.
I think he's confused and wondering what happened to his leg :)
DeleteAhoy, matie! Today's pirates are brutal and dangerous. But then, weren't the pirates of old the same?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question - do we romanticize pirates of the past?
DeleteDid Simon dress up?
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine all of the bite and claw marks I'd have on me if I tried to get him to dress up?
DeleteI can't help thinking of Steve the Pirate from the movie "Dodgeball". If you've never seen it, you should. It's hilarious! Happy Sailing, my dear.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen it - I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation :)
DeleteYou're welcome. :) If bawdy slapstick humor is not to your taste, however, I'd understand you giving it a skip.
DeleteI believe I did share a picture of my antique frames. I shared an image of my old, under-powered reading glasses, as well, if *I* recall correctly. ~grin~ Those had a busted nose piece that got replaced and will be my backup driving glasses if necessary. Meantime, the frame itself came apart, not a replaceable screw. The optical technician gave me the name of a guy who does repairs. I don't know if he can weld upon aluminum or not. ~sigh~ Thanks for the kind word!
We went for lots of pirate picture books to help get the pirate talk just right!
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be fun - kids must love pirate picture books!
DeleteThe poor guy can't afford a peg leg? Must not be a very good pirate - perhaps that is why is standing on shore?
ReplyDeleteI think he lost it in a poker game
Delete...and a bottle of rum...
ReplyDeletehi
