Wordless Wednesday | Talk Like A Pirate Day

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - Ahoy, mateys! It's "Talk Like a Pirate Day"!

2 - We're not big on dressing up, but I know people who take every opportunity they can fin to don their pirate apparel.

3 - Did you know that the term "filibuster" has pirate origins? It must be true - I read it here.

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  3. Arr! What be a pirate's favorite letter? Ye might think it be "R", but no, it be the "C"!

  4. Johnny Depp, but in a good way. Like all the characters he's played in the movies and not his real life that... Well, I'd rather not say.

    Stay safe.

    1. He never really did much for me in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I know that's heresy for some :)

  5. I don't enjoy dressing in costume either. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe I use all my make-believe energy in words?

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone. It's like torture to have to dress up. I think you're right - the make-believe happens in my head, not in real life.

  6. I did not know that about filibuster - but I do now! My favourite pirate is still Captain Pugwash from childhood cartoons.

    1. That's a good question - do we romanticize pirates of the past?

    2. You're welcome. :) If bawdy slapstick humor is not to your taste, however, I'd understand you giving it a skip.

I believe I did share a picture of my antique frames. I shared an image of my old, under-powered reading glasses, as well, if *I* recall correctly. ~grin~ Those had a busted nose piece that got replaced and will be my backup driving glasses if necessary. Meantime, the frame itself came apart, not a replaceable screw. The optical technician gave me the name of a guy who does repairs. I don't know if he can weld upon aluminum or not. ~sigh~ Thanks for the kind word!

  12. The poor guy can't afford a peg leg? Must not be a very good pirate - perhaps that is why is standing on shore?
