Worldess Wednesday | Thoroughbred Training At Payson Park, Indiantown, Florida

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - Payson Park is a horse training center in southern Florida. Just like people come down to Florida for the winter, so do thoroughbreds.

2 - You can watch the horses train in the mornings. They're gorgeous animals.

3 - I'm allergic to horses. I prefer to watch them from a distance.

4 - I can only imagine how much these animals are worth. I wonder if your average car insurance policy covers you if you accidentally hit one of them as they cross the road?

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. I like the sign. Basically, if you're dumb enough to jump in front of a running horse, it's your own fault.

    1. I think it pretty much covers it all - don't be stupid and stay away from the horses if you don't know what you're doing.

  2. Equine activities could cover a wide range of things!

  3. Riding can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I used to ride for pleasure and I was ever so careful. I love horses. They are most powerful. That's what I think of when I look at these shots. Powerful.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. ♥

    1. These horses in particular seemed incredibly powerful. Such speed!

  4. Okay. That car insurance question cracked me up. Heh... Thank you for the chuckles and supporting words on my blog. Not long ago after we reconnected for a time, my first love urged me to shed my fear and share my stories with the world. It's tough to let go. ~sigh~ But maybe someday...

    Be well and Happy Writing!

    1. I bet we weren't the first people to wonder about the car insurance question :-)

  5. Allergic to horses? I admit I haven't heard of that allergy before, but I suppose it makes sense.

  6. It makes me think "Surely it's too hot to be running around in Florida in the sun!" Also, I have a Mane and Tail de-tangling spray for horses. It works pretty good :-)

  7. It just makes me think, how beautiful they are! It's fun to ride, but i don't get to do that very often.

  8. The pictures make me think, "Gorgeous!" Such graceful animals, and they support all of that weight and power on such spindly legs.

I haven't been riding in years, but I never rode a gorgeous thoroughbred like in the pictures. In fact, the last time I went riding, I took an apple to feed the horse afterwards, and the poor thing didn't have any teeth!

    1. How do those tiny legs support the massive bodies and rider? That's a very good question. A horse without teeth sounds very sad. :-(

  9. What fun! I love to ride, but I haven't in a very long time. I leased a horse one year, and that cured me of ever owning one. Pretty much - been there, done that, got the t-shirt - now, if I had the chance to ride someone else's........

    1. I can imagine owning (or leasing) a horse must be a lot of work.

  10. I’m not into thoroughbred horses, or thoroughbred anything, but I do have respect for horses, and find them majestic animals. I enjoy petting them and being in their company. And, riding them, if I’m ok forking out the money to do a “tour”. :-)

    1. I don't really know much about horses, but they certainly are magnificent beasts.

  11. Makes me think, I'm going to miss Indiantown. OK - not really, but I am going to miss that I never had much of Indiantown experience beyond the marina - only did a quick walk through the Seminole Inn, never visited Payson Park, never heard anyone speak Kanjobal. Indiantown is part of an interesting and unexpected part of Florida - not at all the Florida that I thought of in my punk rock youth as being the absolute last place on Earth that I'd ever want to live.

    1. Indiantown definitely has more to offer than you'd think at first glance. :-)
