Today's
Spanish word is >>anclaje<< (anchorage). And now for some random
thoughts:
1 - These are some pictures of anchorages we dropped the hook at during our time cruising in New Zealand, the Bahamas, and Florida.
2 - I've blatantly recycled these photos from older blog posts. Some of you may remember them if you've been following our blog for a while.
3 - Although, if you do remember them, I'm impressed. I can't even remember what my middle name is. Oh, wait, I don't have a middle name. That explains it.

DeleteYes I remember my middle name. We've not done a lot of anchoring out. We boat way different than you do, but boating still rocks. Any kind of boating.

DeleteMy memory is not as good as it was, but I do remember my middle name (Christine). I don’t know what my favourite A word is, but it is NOT Anabel, the spelling of which has bugged me my whole life. No-one ever gets it right, though it’s relevant here, as Ana and Anabel only have one n in Spanish.

ReplyDeleteActually, I have a really good memory. Not so much during the last few years on account for too much stress, but generally I remember most things I've heard and read and all the lyrics to every song I ever liked. It can be a nuisance, I tell you! I will remember anclaje from now on, and it will definitely be a handy word once we get to Spain! I'm set on learning all your new words!

DeleteOh no, Inka is my first name, but I use my middle name as my last name. That seems like a complicated way of explaining it ;)
DeleteMemory, eh? I know my middle name, but I'm not fond of it. Now I know how to say anchorage in spanish, I was born in Anchorage, how's that for an A word. The hospital I was born in no longer exists though.
ReplyDeleteOkay, spill it - what's your middle name? This is going to sound silly, but for some reason I never thought about how the city of Anchorage got it's name. Duh - must be because boats anchored there.
DeleteSo, your middle name must be 'Anclaje'. Mine used to be, 'Bickersteth' but I removed that for space-on-form reasons - so now it's 'Rafael'.

DeleteHola Amiga! My mother didn't have a middle name, but used her maiden name as her middle after she married. My niece changed her middle name to her last name and dropped her much hated hyphenated last name. I guess she doesn't have a middle now. My brother gave me my middle name inspired by The Little Rascals. No, it's not Spanky, it's Darla. I used to not like Darla, but am fine with it now. It is much better than my last name which is full - no offense to our mutual friends who share my last name. A good "A" word to know in Spanish is "Alto". It can mean stop when seen on an octagonal red sign on a corner or it can mean tall when talking about that giant cliff side you are about to hike up.

I don't have a middle name either! My eldest brother does but seems my parents gave up after him as my other brother doesn't have one either. Mind you the eldest one has Ernest for his middle name. Maybe it's just as well I didn't get one. lol Good luck with the challenge. I'm already way behind on where I wanted to be.

DeleteNot only do I remember my middle name, but it starts with the letter A. How's that for a coincidence (a little weak, for sure)? What I didn't remember was that yesterday started the A to Z challenge because I went on a nice caminata.

Delete"Caminata" - another good word. Knowing you guys I was able to guess that's what it was.
Ok - just went for a walk and I thought of more somewhat relevent comments for this post! Another "A" word, "apellido" means last name in Spanish. Mexicans have many middle names. Coincidentally, we were just having a conversation with a Mexican in Mexico about this. He said having multiple middle names is starting to become more uncommon. It is probably pretty rare to meet a Mexican with no middle name. Ok - I am going to go need out and write my own post about Spanish and leave you alone for a while.
