Wordless Wednesday | Dinghy Racing At Indiantown Marina
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - During Thanksgiving week at Indiantown Marina, they had a dinghy poker run race. People went from station to station in their dinghies and picked up cards. The crews with the best hands won prizes in the form of credit to their marina bill.
2 - Our friends, Greg and Duwan, won second place. Duwan is the one in the gray tank top looking deliriously happy because they just won a $50 credit.
3 - I'd be deliriously happy if I won a $50 credit. That's the equivalent of ten pump-outs, excluding tax.
4 - Yes, that's what happens when you live on a boat for too long, you start to think about the value of things in terms of pumping out your holding tank.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun :-)
DeleteDid you guys participate?
ReplyDeleteNo - just took pictures
DeleteSo much fun! Sometimes I think in value of gallons of ice cream. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! A much more pleasant thing to convert into :-)
DeleteFun. All these pictures look like fun. I'm on a boat much of the time too, but pumping out isn't something I think about. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ☺
You're smart not to think about it. :-)
DeleteThe sense of community reminds me of campgrounds we visited in Alaska. Even strangers bonded over shared stories. Sandee's comment makes me giggle. If we lived on a boat I'd probably get the worst tasks. ~grin~ It's why I refuse to buy a camper, boat, or anything that takes work beyond running a single household.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how it happened, but I'm our sanitation engineer. It's gross, but someone has to do it.
DeleteTen pump outs you say? That is a big deal. Makes me wonder if you thought to participate...
ReplyDeleteNo, we didn't participate. Our dinghy is too much of a pain to get into the water they way we're currently set up and it doesn't like to hold air.
DeleteLOL! Oh how fun. I'd be thinking how many weeks would feed our bottomless pit cats.
ReplyDeleteAww...cats are another great thing to convert money into.
DeleteIt sounds like a fun game, and $50 is nothing to sneeze at!
ReplyDeleteI think the grand prize was $100 - definitely wouldn't have sneezed at that :-)
DeleteIf you look at it in boat dollars, $50 is about 5 cents, but if you look at it in beer dollars it's 33 1/3 beers at Taco Tuesday! The race was fun and it is always fun to win!
ReplyDeleteBeer dollars - That made me laugh :-)
DeleteThat sounds like a blast. I started playing poker before I started first grade, so I know I would've enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to play poker. You should have come down for the race.
DeleteIt’s been a while since I stopped by here—sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by - nice to "see" you :-)
DeleteLooks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will share your photos at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2017/11/very-zen.html
Know nothing about dinghies or poker but it still looks fun!
