Wordless Wednesday | Singapore Alleyway

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - We like poking down alleyways. Sure, it might not be as pretty as the front side of the buildings, but it's often quite interesting in a weird and dodgy sort of way.

2 - Look at all of those air conditioning units. At least that's what I think they are.

3 - It's hot in Singapore. I'd want air conditioning if I lived there.

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. It's like a tunnel of air conditioning units. Maybe all they have is those little ones. Or maybe that's all they can afford.

  2. I love photos that capture a glimpse of real city life.

  3. Often the alley has far more interesting photo opportunities than the street side of a building. Nicely captured.

    1. May not be as pretty, but you're right alleyways are often more interesting.

    1. Exactly - it's interesting to see how other people live.

  6. Its says lots of people in a small space. I thought the air conditioners were fans which made it worse (in my mind).

  7. Behind the scenes, it reminds me of the mechanical rooms in big buildings that are behind the scenes, too.

    1. There's always a room like that in big buildings which are invisible but so important.

  8. Great thoughts with that photo. When I think back about my visit to Singapore way back when, the main thing I remember is the heat and humidity as well. And, how I wanted to walk from air-conditioned building to air-conditioned building... as a person who generally hates air-conditioning and loves the outdoors. That tells you something. :-)

    1. It was really hard to be outside for very long there without thinking you were going to melt into a puddle.

  9. That isn't what I'd call a soothing or beautiful picture. I'm a fan of weird and dodgy things, too, but that pic makes me feel boxed in and claustrophobic. Can you imagine what it's like when it's teeming with wall-to-wall people? (Now a song is playing in my weird head: "Give me land, lots of land under starry skies above... don't fence me in...")

    1. It is a crowded city, for sure. Now, you've got that song going through my head :-)

    1. I'm not surprised how clean it is. They fine people for chucking gum on the sidewalks there.

  11. Seeing this and reading your words makes me realize how much more intrepid you are. My partner doesn't want to get off the beaten path in Ohio for fear of something bad happening. ~shakes head~ Be well!

    1. Well, I'm not so sure that we're intrepid. Just weird :-)

  12. The fans and the curve are interesting. I'd be tempted to put some plants out there.
