Wordless Wednesday | Wind Scoop
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - The winner of the Most Valuable Player award on our boat should probably go to our wind scoop.
2 - When we're at anchor, the hatch over our aft cabin (where we sleep at night) faces the wrong way and we don't benefit from all of the lovely cooling sea breezes. And it gets hot. So hot. So very, very hot. Miserably hot. You get the idea.
3 - When we hang our wind scoop up, the wind blows into it and gets funneled down over our bed. So much nicer for sleeping.
4 - Of course, if it starts raining in the middle of the night, someone has to scramble up on deck and take it down, usually getting soaking wet in the process. For some reason, I usually get nominated for this task. Not sure why. Hmm.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

wow - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hilary!
DeleteI couldn't sleep without that scoop up.
ReplyDeleteAn absolute necessity for a good night's sleep.
DeleteWhat a nice looking wind scoop! I'd have to reserve MVP for the autopilot. It sure is nice not to have to hand steer on long trips.
ReplyDeleteSome friends gave it to us - great present!
DeleteWhat a couple of salty seamen you are!
ReplyDeleteThere are lots more people with lots more nautical miles under their belts than us, but we're trying to catch up. :-)
DeleteThe words that come to mind are cooling sea breezes. They just might be the whole reason for getting on the boat in the first place. Have a blessed Wordless Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteCooling sea breezes is definitely one of the bonuses of getting out on a boat :-)
DeleteComfort is what this brings to mind. I will say that being the first mate on a boat you get to do most of the dirty work. Same here, but it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ☺
So true, so true :-0
DeleteSleep can be hard to come by when living on a sailboat, especially when it is steaming hot out. So, I'm all for comfort options, whether it is a wind scoop or low power fans. Our bunks had forward facing hatches, but when there is no breeze, that doesn't do much good either. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is so true. One of the reasons we're glad to be back at Indiantown is the ability to run the AC. Otherwise, I don't think we'd be sleeping well in this heat.
DeleteThe word that comes to my mind is serenity. It's been a lot of years since we slept on a boat, but I remember how peaceful the gentle rocking motion felt. (It was a houseboat, though, so we had air conditioning...)
ReplyDeleteSleeping on a boat can be very peaceful :-)
DeleteFascinating! I guess that's the word that comes to mind. ~grin~ Thank you for the information.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found it fascinating :-)
