Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - Most lizards we've encountered scurry away when they hear you approaching.
2 - This little guy happily posed for a picture at Warderick Wells in the Exuma Land & Sea Park in the Bahamas. Maybe because the wildlife is protected in the park, the lizards aren't so skittish.
3 - Scott takes all of pictures on our blog. I'm not sure I give him enough credit for the great images he captures. The blog would be very boring without his pictures.

DeleteI look at this picture and remember the love our beloved Little Bit had for lizards. She would hunt them. Never caught them, but would go on a hunt. We sure miss that girl.

DeleteNice shot - I have lots of little lizards around my home (in Florida). They don't pose for me.
ReplyDeleteThe ones near us in Florida also don't pose. They run away quickly when they see you coming.

It was sweet of him/her. Good question - how to you tell what sex a lizard is?
DeleteHere is my story of being stalked by a lizard at Warderick Wells -- We were hiking around the island and came to a beach. Greg went out into the water to do some snorkeling while I waited ashore. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a lizard at the edge of the vegetation on the beach, maybe 20 feet away from me. I looked back over the water and then back again to the beach and there was the lizard just a little bit closer to where I was. I didn't think much of it until I noticed that little by little he/she was getting closer to me each time I looked. By the time Greg returned the lizard was almost on top of me - I was afraid he/she would jump on me. My little lizard friend seemed to have no interest in Greg at all and was very focused on my. Eventually we all went our separate ways.

DeleteThis photo reminds me so much of how we loved to lay on big hot rocks down in the desert. Those lizards sure know what's good!

DeleteI have noticed that lizards sometimes are less timid at resort areas I was at Vizcaya Estate in Miami and got a shot a huge lizard who seemed to almost be posing for me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting about them being less afraid at resorts. Warderick Wells is in a protected land and sea park, so maybe the lizard felt safer there knowing humans can't harm him.

DeleteI'm one of those strange females who loves lizards, so I think this picture is great. What one word does the pic bring to mind? Pride. That little fellow looks so proud... haughty, even... as though he's a real stud and knows it. :)
