Wordless Wednesday | Sundowners
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - Sundowners are one of those cruising rituals. A drink at the end of the day in your cockpit while you watch the sun go down.
2 - When we bought Tickety Boo, she came with plates, dishes, cutlery, glasses etc. The glasses all have nautical themes, like fish or compass directions.
3 - Scott usually has a gin and tonic. I change things up - sometimes a beer, sometimes a gin and tonic or sometimes a glass of wine.
4 - We have a table in our cockpit which we can fold out for drinks and meals.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

Glad you finally made it across and a sundowner sounds like a necessity. Not sure about that croc though. (Been catching up on your posts.)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping we don't run into any gators or crocs over in the Bahamas.
DeleteIt's so lovely to have sunset ritual and stop and be thankful for the day, and it's really easy to enjoy sunset from a boat!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of being thankful for the day and remembering how lucky we are to lead this life.
DeleteI could really handle that...
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough life, but someone has to do it.
DeleteRelaxation is the word that comes to mind. We know about boating. We know about the rituals and we love them as you do.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Ellen. ☺
It can be a very relaxing way to end the day :-)
DeleteThat looks absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt is :-)
DeleteCome sundown I am sometimes in the galley making a mess or Deb is cleaning it up so the best adult treats are the Anchor Drop Beers. After every anchor drop we salute the Gods for not spanking us on the voyage there. Yes, even the early morning arrivals do not prevent a toast to success.
ReplyDeleteAn early morning Ale and fried egg sandwich is not a bad way to start your day. I would not recommend it every morning though. Best to stick with the Cheerios.
That sounds like a great way to start the day!
Deletethat's a ritual I could get used to.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely one :-)
DeleteI love that tradition, but because I don't drink, I'd have to change it to apple cider or hot chocolate, dependent on the weather. =)
ReplyDeleteIt definitely doesn't need to be alcoholic. Apple cider sounds pretty good to me :-)
DeleteDrinks are free on me! Now theres a sweet one liner for sure.
ReplyDeleteA very sweet one liner :-)
DeleteSunrise and sunset over the ocean=perfection. I'll take a scotch, no water, no ice.
ReplyDeleteIt's good you don't need ice because we don't have a freezer :-)
DeleteI see that and think 'I wish I could just give up and have one every evening'. Alas, empty calories. I do love a good beer. More empty calories. I can't afford to spend my calories that way too often. But I sure would like to. Hey, maybe sailing will change that! Ya think?
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot of empty calories going on in our lives right now and not enough exercise to work them off :-( But it's hard to say no to a nice beer or some chocolate chip cookies.
DeleteWe used to drink rum and Coke when we were in the Caribbean. Not very healthy and they did fatten me up a bit. In the Pacific, alcohol was too expensive, so we barely drank any. Now, Mark usually has a beer or red wine and I have a glass of wine as well, or a rum and orange juice. Usually only in the weekends and without a view of the ocean.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of rum (unless it's well disguised in a tropical drink). Heresy for a sailor, I know.
DeleteWhen I saw the pic, I had no idea what it was. Words do help put things into perspective. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
Yay - I'm glad my rule breaking paid off!
DeleteAs routines go, that's a pretty nice one. It looks like you could put a little tealight candle in that glass for a bit of extra atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteWe have these fake battery operated candles that we use. Not as nice as a real candle, but less worry about burning your boat down.
DeleteSuch a beautiful ritual! I love watching the sun goes down!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great way to end the day :-)
