Wordless Wednesday | Church In Indiantown, Florida
Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:
1 - There is a church near the local grocery store in Indiantown, Florida which sometimes has services in a tent outside.
2 - All the signs are in Spanish, so I don't have a clue what they say.
3 - You hear Spanish everywhere you go in town.
4 - I wonder what they're saying when I'm waiting in line at the store.
5 - I really should learn Spanish.
What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

Thanks for stopping by our blog - we love it when people come visit! We're also on Facebook - pop by and say hi!
When we were on the hard at Westlands in Titusville they would have a service every Sunday at the pavilion in the park just outside the fence. We could and would sit in the cockpit, drink coffee with our boatyard neighbor (who was refitting a Westsail 32) and listen to the sermon and songs. Their female lead singer had a great voice. Good excuse to take a break from boat work.
ReplyDelete1AM posting huh, get some sleep.
While I was up at 1AM (gusty winds), I actually preschedule the posts so they post automatically while I sleep :-)
DeleteNumber five just made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me laugh too because I've been saying it for years, but still haven't done it.
DeleteIt's funny. I grew up in the Bible Belt, but I've never seen a tent set up for a church service . . . it looks kind of depressing.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably more cheerful when people where in it :-)
DeleteThat reminds me of a revival tent when I was in my youth. A traveling church so to speak.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day Wordless Wednesday. ☺
I think of revival tents too when they've got this set up. Maybe that's what it is, although it doesn't travel.
DeleteEvery time we drive south we pass the sign for Indiantown, and I always make a joke or two about it. Seriously, one of the strangest names for a place. Btw, I'm 70% fluent in Spanish and basically think I'm just being rude when I listen in to people's conversations...when they think I'm an ignorant bystander.
ReplyDeleteIt is an interesting name for a town - names for the Seminole Indians who used to live here. Well done to you for speaking Spanish. Maybe one of these days I'll learn some.
DeleteOld fashioned revival is what that reminds me of. And the movie starring Steve Martin as the 'preacher' , Leap of Faith.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of that movie - I'll have to check it out.
DeleteOur church has a Spanish translator in the back of the room. That church needs an English translator.
ReplyDeleteI lived in NM for 4 years and only learned one Spanish word. And not a nice one I can repeat, either. LOL
Glad you didn't share your naughty Spanish word :-) We try to keep things G rated around here.
DeleteThis photo reminds me of an episode of True Detective. The police are investigating a horrific murder and find themselves at a tent revival. Strangeness ensues.
ReplyDeleteI remember that scene! Great show.
DeleteLooks like an impromptu church. During our one-week house sit in the hood of Oakland, all we heard was Spanish as well. But, smiles go a long way. :-)
ReplyDeleteSmiles definitely go a long way :-)
DeleteIt would probably be really interesting to attend.
ReplyDeleteI've seen tent revivals often in my life, but never been to one. It's more of a Southern tradition. Where I am in Los Angeles Spanish is prevalent. I understand a lot, but I rarely try to speak it. Spanish is my wife's first language and many of her family members speak only Spanish.

Tossing It Out
O M G. I just read this and laughed so hard. I laughed so hard that my kids asked me what I was reading. I read it back to them. Now they are laughing so hard.
ReplyDeleteWe live in south Florida and can totally relate.
