Wordless Wednesday | Glow Plugs

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - The engine on our boat works now! {If you've followed us for a while, you'll know how darn exciting this is.}

2 - We had to remove this panel to access the glow plug starter and replace an inline fuse.

3 - There's a reason for panels like these. They hide all of the scary bits and bobs that lurk behind them.

4 - Whenever I hear the term "glow plugs," I think about glow worms which makes me think about the "Inchworm" song from the Hans Christian Anderson musical. I can't get it out of my head now.

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. Point 2 is way above my head! Scary bits and bobs I can relate to.

  2. That's awesome you got it fixed without involving a high priced mechanic!

    1. We had a wonderful friend help us. We couldn't have done it without him.

  3. I'd have to get out the oars, I'm afraid. Good job, you!

    1. I wish I could take the credit, but it was due in large part to help we got from a friend in troubleshooting the problem and a lot of hard work on Scott's part.

  4. When I hear the words "glow plugs" I think about Waitomo Caves in New Zealand. It's a bit of a jump from "plug" to worm, but it's still early.

  5. This pic reminds me of my dad. I know - last thing you'd expect to hear about an electrical panel on a boat. He was a boat captain and I have very fond memories of walking down to Dinner Key Marina (that is in Miami, a bit south of where you are now) after getting out of grade school and he would invariably be hunched down below some bulkhead fixing something like this. The many screws and pieces spread out neatly never seemed to amaze me. Looking at that pic actually brings back the smell of the lubricant that had to be used for whatever it was used for. Lol.
Thanks for taking me down memory lane!

    1. What a nice memory of you dad! It's funny what triggers memories and how often smells are involved, even lubricants :-)

  6. Work, that picture reminds me of work. Well that and things that don't work right on your boat.

    The acronym for boat is:

    Bring
    On
    Another
    Thousand

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ☺

  7. This picture brings to mind how I hate boat work. Luckily, we don't have any anymore. I prefer glow worms to glow plugs and that reminds me of the caves and forests in New Zealand. Luckily, I don't know the song you are referring to, because I hate having a song, of which I usually don't know the lyrics, stuck in my head!

    1. Boat projects are definitely not top of my list either :-(

  8. Your Thornycroft is so very British and cool. I think of vintage sports cars and Spitfire airplanes. I only have a Yanmar, think Datsun and it doesn't even have glow plugs. Plus you are some place warm, I am so jealous.

    1. Too funny that you think of our engine as cool. I think of it as a monster that lurks in a dark recess demanding large quantities of oil, fuel, air and heat before it will even consider working :-)
