Look What Santa Brought Me!
I must have been on Santa's nice list this year, because look what he brought me - a Honda generator!
Well, he didn't really bring it to me. He just sent me a link to the Honda holiday sales site and told me to go pick it up myself. That was kind of a drag, but I thought to myself, give Santa a break. After all, this is a busy time of year for him.
But then it turns out he expected me to pay for it myself. What the heck Santa? This isn't how things used to work when I was a kid. I remember getting an amazing Barbie Dream House one year. It was awesome. It even had an elevator that the hamsters used to love riding in. What made it even better was that Santa didn't ask me for my credit card details when he dropped it off.
My how times have changed. Who would have thought that I'd be so excited about getting a generator for Christmas and that I'd willingly fork over my credit card to Santa's elves.
Some of you may be thinking that maybe I was actually on Santa's naughty list. After all, who writes to Santa and says, please bring me a generator? Well, I did. And I really was nice this year. Well, most of the year.
Although we have solar panels on our sailboat, they're not always going to be enough to meet our power demands, especially when it's cloudy out. This generator is going to make things so much easier, especially when it comes to keeping the electronic devices charged. Because without a fully charged computer, I can't blog or work on my writing. And if I can't blog or write, that would make me cranky. And if I got cranky, I probably wouldn't be very nice and we know how important it is to stay on Santa's good side. After all, I'm hoping Santa brings me a composting toilet next year.
Did you make a list for Santa this year? What's on it? Or, if you're not into Santa, what would be your ideal birthday present?
Thanks for stopping by our blog - we love it when people come visit! We're also on Facebook - pop by and say hi!
Esme would have something to say if she came back and you were cranky.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a generator even if you did have to fork over your credit card. Keep an eye on new charges. You can't trust those elves.
Esme seems to have a lot to say about pretty much everything :-)
DeleteOhh.. I have generator envy. I think we (Greg mostly) have been way to naughty to get anything that nice from Santa.
ReplyDeleteGreg's really dragging the team down with all of his naughty ways :-) For some reason, I thought you guys already had a generator. Although you probably have a better solar set up than we do and you have a wind generator.
DeleteWhat a great purchase, from Santa, by way of your credit card. I've been known to buy myself things, wrap them up, and put them under the tree, from Santa. Hey, who knows better than me what I need? (shameless justification)
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law used to buy things for herself, wrap them up and then act surprised when she opened them. It was really cute.
DeleteNice. Top of the line model...with a price to match. But seriously, it is a good unit.
ReplyDeleteBut I have to ask...why the 2000 watt model? Wouldn't the 1000 have been sufficient?

We may be getting a water maker next year that we would run off of it. We figured it's better to pay a little more for a 2000 then be stuck with a 1000 and find it wasn't enough for our needs.
DeleteHappy new generator! You guys are going to love it (we have the same one).
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Stephanie @ SV CAMBRIA
I haven't even opened the box and I already love it.
DeleteOh my goodness! I have to say, our watermaker and the Honda generator are the only things we don't curse. It is the best! We have been using it every few days since it's been so cloudy (and we trashed our wind generator because we hated it. Much better to listen to the dulcet sounds of the Honda!)
ReplyDeleteAre you guys still liking your Rainman? It's one of the watermakers we're considering for Santa to bring us next year.
DeleteYes, it's been great. We haven't had any issues with it and it really helps us keep away from marinas - and the water is so good, better than city water or whatever un-certain water we would pick up from random places.
DeleteI don't have a list for Santa - if I did a generator or a composting toilet would be quite far down!
ReplyDeleteThey are strange things to ask Santa for :-)
DeleteLooks like a great generator - congrats on the present (*sigh* Santa's a busy guy, I guess). When my hubs gets a new job, that's one of the things on our shopping list. They can be pretty handy. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a lot of pricey things on the wish list, like the generator, which we'll try to space out over the next few years. I'm glad we prioritized this one this year.
DeleteThose portable generators are awesome. We had one ourselves as well. Just make sure you rig up some kind of cover for it when it rains (we put it under our cockpit table, which made it very loud and smelly in that vicinity)... Which is most likely when you'll need it, on cloudy, windless days, after a few of those already. Such a great gift! I hope Santa gave you a decent discount at least...
ReplyDeleteDo you have a picture of the cover you made? I'm trying to figure out the best design for one.
DeleteEllen, we put ours under the cockpit table when it rained, so it would stay dry. Initially, we put an umbrella on top of it, attached to the stantions, and a cockpit cushion in front of it to prevent rain hitting the generator. I never made a cover. I am not very handy with canvas, threads and needle! Another thing to do is rig a tarp over it.
DeleteAh, I see. I was thinking you had a cover and also put it under the table. I'll ask the folks over at the Sewing for Boats FB group what they do.
DeleteWoohoo! Yay for your new generator! Not being able to blog or write would freak me out. :O I'm so glad you're charging ability is better now. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the composting toilet for the near future. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWell, now I'll be able to blog or write, but finding internet to upload things will be a whole other issue.
DeleteLooks like Santa is very obliging as long as the credit card is on hand. Hope you enjoy having power on tap!
ReplyDeleteSanta will bring you anything you want provided you supply the credit card :-)
DeleteI splurged on a whole house generator when I retired. When one of my sons lost power, his family moved in. I was in Germany so it was no inconvenience. I have no needs, so I have no list for Santa. But I'm thinking of buying a generator for my son.
ReplyDeleteA generator sounds like a great present for your son. I bet he'd like that :-)
Deleteyay for your generator! and for being on a solar powered sailboat! cool!
ReplyDeleteand thanks for stopping by my Cradle Rock post at Junetas blog
Hi Tara - thanks for popping by here as well :-)
