Kililing Time At The Airport

Scott made it back yesterday, but not without a wee bit of drama one comes to expect from air travel. His connecting flight to Orlando got canceled, but they were able to reroute him on another flight which got in an hour later.

Since I had time to kill at the airport while I waited for him, I wandered around taking pictures and doing some people watching.

For those tourists flying into Orlando to visit Disney World, the whole experience starts at the airport.

I had fun watching all of the little girls sit next to Snow White to get their picture taken. I kind of wanted to get my picture taken with her too.

Traveling on airplanes is hard enough as it is, fighting your way through the crowds and struggling with your bags. It's even a million times harder if you aren't fully mobile and have to get around in a wheelchair.

I did a double take when I saw this statue. It looked really life-like.

The airport was decked out for the holidays. There was a great a cappella choir wandering around the airport and singing Christmas carols.

And that's it for today. Scott's got jet lag and he's still a bit shattered from his trip, so I forsee a lot of napping on today's agenda.

Do you like air travel? What's been your best and/or worst air travel experience?

Thanks for stopping by our blog - we love it when people come visit! We're also on Facebook - pop by and say hi!

  1. Not a fan of air travel, but there are times it's the only way to go. Someone seems to always be sick. They there are the screaming kids. The slobs come out from every corner of the glove. I feel for the flight attendants. They have a really rough job.

I'm glad hubby is home. I know you are too.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

    1. Sick people is one of the downsides of air travel. When you're stuck in a metal tube for hours with them, you're bound to catch whatever they have and end up sick yourself.

  3. So nice that Scott is back. You will have to make room for him and all his stuff now. I find it always an adjustment when the other half comes back from a trip, mostly in a good way. :-) I used to like air travel, since it was the exodus to adventure. That was until I started flying to the US. Since then, I am always a bit nervous and stressed, each time I have to cross the border into this country at an airport. Too many awful incidents with Homeland Security... :-(

    1. I laughed when I read your comment because it looks like everything exploded on the boat with all of Scott's stuff spread out everywhere. I'm not sure where it's all going to go :-)

  4. I dislike air travel but sometimes it's a necessity. INterestingly, last year I went to Scotland and too my mom. She is older and has a hard time walking, uses a cane and sometimes a walker. This time I insisted that we have a portable wheel chair. That made all the difference in the world. We went to the head of the lines (except for security), boarded the plane first with help, and the people in Scotland were solicitous and kind. It was such a relief. I used to like flying. But it's no longer as fun as it used to be and no one gives you those little pins with wings on them anymore or lets you go sit in the pilot's seat. What a drag. Very glad your Scott is back on board!

    1. That's great that they were so helpful to your mom. I remember those pins when I was a kid and going up to meet the pilot. It was definitely a different experience back then.

  5. I don't like air travel either. Going through security always makes me feel like I've done something wrong and that at any minute lights are going to start flashing, sirens are going to go off, and I'm going to be dragged away by TSA agents juiced out on steroids. So happy that Scott made it back safely!

    1. Why is it that whenever I'm in a security line I feel guilty, even though I've done nothing?

  6. I like the airport decorations. You'll be glad to have Scott back.He wasn't flying BA was he? They seem really bad these days. John got back from China yesterday - delays both ways, he missed his first afternoon's meetings. His worst experience recently was also BA - London to San Jose. Arrived 24.5 hours late! I only fly for vacations and nothing too bad has happened to me - but give it time.....

    1. He was on United. He said the flights themselves weren't too bad and that the flight attendants were great. I used to fly BA quite a bit and always found it to be quite good, but that was a while ago and it was for work so I flew business class which probably made a big difference.

    1. Once you're on the plane things aren't so bad. It's the security lines, worry that your bags won't make it, flight delays etc that can really make the experience a drag.

  8. I'm glad your DH is back, and I bet you are too. I worked for an airline for almost 25 years, and if you think it's bad on your side of the counter..... I had customers in line tell the person I was waiting on to "shut up, she's doing the best she can". (among other non-repeatable things)

    1. You are a saint for having had worked at an airline counter. People are so stressed out when they travel that they often take it out on the poor worker bees who are just trying to do the best they can.

    1. People watching is a lot of fun at the airport. I always wonder where people are going or have been.
