1 - There's nothing more fun when you're traveling than to stumble across a parade, like this one when we were in Rhodes.
2 - I'm thinking about starting to wear flowers in my hair on a daily basis. They really jazz up an outfit.
3 - The costumes some of the kids wore during the parade were incredible. So much work must have gone into them.
4 - I think my favorite group of kids were the ones with their pets. One even carried his bunny rabbit in a cage along the parade route. Not sure what the bunny thought, but it was adorable.

I was trying to get my mind around what sort of parade this was. We used to take our sons to the Pet Parade at our county fair each year. Very fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the flowers, btw.

The Pet Parade must have been a blast! I don't think we ever figured out what the parade was about given the language barrier, but it was fun.
DeleteHow adorable are these kids?! It must be great to live in a culture that has such fun traditions!
ReplyDeleteThey were super cute kids :-)
DeleteWhat a great parade! I like the kid with the bunny as well and thought he did a nice job decorating the cage with flowers.

I thought it was really sweet too :-)
DeleteI used to love parades, and went to a big on in Portland Oregon this past June. Very fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ☺
That must have been the Rose Parade. That's a great event!
DeleteI give up. What is the parade for? Is it a blessing of the animals celebration? Our local Episcopal Church had a Sunday where they blessed pets every years. I love the stork. Apparently that myth of storks delivering babies is older than I thought. Here's the link I found. I haven't gone further with the research on its meaning because I'm avoiding getting sucked down into the black hole of Google.http://blog.sfgate.com/pets/2011/05/08/where-did-the-delivery-stork-myth-originate/
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link - I think ;-) Now, I'm going to get sucked into Google's black hole of interesting topics.
DeleteSo cute, and a great way to show the children they are special. Is that a real baby hanging in the storks mouth, were they tied in for safety's sake?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, that baby looked so real, but fortunately it wasn't. At least, I think it wasn't.
DeleteThe concept of parades seems kind of strange, but these displays seem to have a broad appeal throughout the world. A big one coming tomorrow for Thanksgiving.

Tossing It Out
I used to love watching the Macy's Day parade on television at Thanksgiving. I think parades may be one of those universals world-wide.
DeleteSuch solemn faces! They were taking it VERY seriously, bless them.
ReplyDeleteI thought the exact same thing when I was looking through the photos. Such serious kids.
DeleteVery cute. I like flowers in hair as well. Very common in the South Pacific, where festivals are incredible as well, with intricate costumes and solemn faces. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are great. I loved seeing all the Pasifika ladies wear them in their hair in New Zealand.
