Wordless Wednesday | Hare Krishnas

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - These are pictures from a Hare Krishna parade in Auckland, New Zealand a few years ago.

2 - I love the bright colors of the women's saris.

3 - I've eaten at a Hare Krishna restaurant before. Delicious vegetarian food.

What words does this picture bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. Colorful!
And didn't know they were vegetarian, but it makes sense.

    1. Their food was so delicious that I don't think you'd notice that there wasn't any meat.

  2. In St. Louis there is a Harry Krishna restaurant that we would go to occasionally. The food was free and served cafeteria style. You were supposed to go to the religious service before you got the food, but we would always show up late after the service in time for the food. They were a friendly bunch. There was one Krishna who was always telling jokes - we nicknamed him Henny Krishna. One time we went to a Krishna wedding. The place was packed with Krishnas - we were probably the only "civilians" aside from the parents of the bride and groom who looked very very unhappy. Afterwards we sat on the floor in long rows and ate. They just kept on coming by and filling up our plates. It was quite an experience.

    1. Check to see if there's one near where you currently are. Being a veggie, you might really like it.

  5. I LOVE those shots. The color gets me too. I could never wear things like that, but I think they're so beautiful.

    1. I'm the same way - I couldn't wear a sari myself but think they're gorgeous.

    1. That's such a good idea. I think it would look neat to have throw pillows made out of some of that fabric.

  9. Great shots. I thought Hare Krishna men had no hair. I truly don't know anything about Hare Krishnas, so I wish Wordless Wedensdays allowed you a few more words... :-)

    1. I don't really know anything about them either. Sounds like something I can ask Mr Google later today when I want to avoid items on my To Do list :-)

  12. Happiness in colors! Which we need today, as we ride out a wicked nor'easter at anchor behind Assateague Island, south of Ocean City MD. Pretty awful, actually.
