Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be
about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so
here are a few words:
1 - Tā moko are the traditional body and face markings of the indigenous Māori people of New Zealand. They're a sign of cultural identity and an art form.

2 - I took a Te Reo Māori language class when I lived in New Zealand. It was interesting to learn about the Māori culture through studying their language.
3 - I don't have any tattoos. I avoid pain at all costs.

I'm with you - don't like pain.
ReplyDeletePain is best avoided at all costs from my perspective. So, I admire people that go through so much pain to get a tattoo. You know they must really want it.

I don't think my mother would be very happy if I got a tattoo. That's another good reason not to get one.
DeleteThose tattoos are so amazing! We saw loads of them in French Polynesia, where basically everyone has them. It is a big part of their culture and identity and it is a magnificent art form over there as well. Yes, I couldn't resist and got one as well, even though I NEVER planned on ever having a tattoo! :-)

DeleteYes, pain is what comes to me too! I can't imagine what it must feel like to have that done to your face. I have no tattoos, but I have one piercing in each ear, no more. That was painful enough for me.

DeleteUh, no tattoos for me...I have 2 earring holes in each earlobe, and that is enough for me. I do love learning about culture, and peoples though, very fascinating. I recently had to do a seemingly endless, mindless chore, so I put an audiobook on my phone and spent the time listening to "Customs of the World - Using Cultural Intelligence to Adapt, Wherever You Are." It is what Audible calls one of their "Great Courses". I really enjoyed it and learned quite a bit about cultures around the world. I would sit down with this gentleman anytime, and listen to him about his way of life. Do you think that is curiosity or being nosy?

DeleteWell...I've never understood the need for tattoos but respect the right of each person's choice to have or have not.
ReplyDeleteI like looking at them on other people but would never get one myself because of the pain factor and the fact that they're permanent. I change my mind way too often to have the same tattoo for life.
