Happy New Year!

Image Source - The Graphics Fairy

For many of us, the New Year is a time to make resolutions - things you're going to stop, start or continue doing. Like losing weight, exercising more and eating your five a day. Ugh. Not only are New Year's resolutions boring, I never really stick to them.

This year, I'd much rather think about the things I'm looking forward to in 2016. Things like getting Tickety Boo off the dock and taking her out cruising. Traveling and exploring new places. Having Ethiopian food. Spending time with friends and family. Enjoying the surprises that the Universe has in store for us. Things like that.

What are you looking forward to in 2016?

Thanks for stopping by our blog - we love it when people come visit! We're also on Facebook - pop by and say hi!

  1. I too look forward to things, rather than make resolutions. However, I do spend time reflecting on the past year, both good and bad. My list of things for 2016 is relatively short, take the dog for long walks in the woods, wait patiently for the spring thaw so I can go out sailing. Not a bad life, oh and continue to enjoy your blog. The spring thaw will be awhile, we live in Christmas, MI

    1. Taking dogs out for long walks in the woods sounds like a wonderful thing to look forward to this year :-) And spring will come around before you know it.

Thanks so much for following along with us Carl!

  2. I like your way of ringing in the new year. I too want to get the boat off the dock and go places. Our boat is still at the shop for it's make over. We visited her on Wednesday and she's coming along fine. So get her back in our slip and get ready for some cruising.

Of course friends and boating buddies are part of the mix too. I'm looking forward to a year filled with lots of boating and making memories.

Have a fabulous first day of 2016 Ellen. ☺

    1. Have a wonderful 2016 Sandee. And how could you not with all of the boating activities you have to look forward to. :-)

  3. What if "thing you're looking forward to" and "New Year's Resolution" are the same thing? That's the ultimate win-win. This year I repeated the same resolution that served me so well last year: Have More Adventures. Do things, meet people, blog about them, grow from the experience, repeat.

  4. Great idea! I've been worrying about losing weight but really what I should be focusing on is all the things I want to do in 2016!

    1. Resolutions never really work for me. Although Jaye's resolution (see above) seems like it would be a no-brainer winner.

  7. I've only ever made one New Years resolution that stuck. No more New Years resolutions. If I want to do something, just do it. Do something because it is the right thing to do. If I want to change something, I change it right now. I change things when I feel the need to change them, not because there's a season to change things.

Like when I decided I wanted to add more chocolate to my diet, I priced out the best deal was trader Joe's big chocolate bars, I break them into a 4" Tupperware and have a square or more as I see fit. I didn't have to wait for a calendar change to do it.

I do have to wait for January before I can retire, but that's not my idea.

  8. I think you have a great philosophy - change when you're ready to change, not just because an arbitrary date has arrived on the calendar. When I buy chocolate, I do the same thing - break it into squares so I just eat one or two at a time instead of the whole bar. Works really well with dark chocolate - I only need a bit to satisfy my craving. Have a great 2016 Mike!
