K Is For Key West Garden Club

During April, we're participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Every day (except Sundays), we’ll be doing an alphabet themed post starting with “A is for Adventurous” and ending with “Z is for Zinc”. We've got a theme for every letter sorted except for Y. If you have any ideas for the letter Y, please leave a comment or email.

The first thing you read when you visit the Key West Garden Club’s website is that “it is one of the island’s last remaining free tourist attractions.” I don’t know about you, but we LOVE free tourist attractions. Add in some gorgeous plants in a peaceful garden setting and you have a winner. We stumbled across the Key West Garden Club during our “freeform” walk in Key West during February. By that point in our walk, we were getting tired and a bit cranky, so it was such a delightful surprise to come across this secluded oasis tucked away on the beach off of White Street. Although the rest of Key West was heaving with cruise ship passengers and other tourists, there was hardly anyone in the garden when we visited – bliss.

If you’re having a stressful day, just have a look at the pictures below. Breathe out the bad, breathe in the good. Plants have a way of making everything better.

We recharged our batteries among the tropical foliage at the Key West Garden Club on 13 February 2015.

  1. Free is one of our favorite words as well. Free and beautiful, even better. I haven't been to Key West since Melissa was about 6 months old, so 17 years.

    1. It really is such a lovely place that you wouldn't mind spending a little money to visit it. But free is much, much better!

  2. Have been to the Keys many times but never to the gardens, thanks for sharing the new discovery. I use to travel down White street for breakfast when old bakery was still open.
