I gotta tell you how much I am enjoying this blog. Really.
I remember my first trip to the Bahamas. It was to Bimini from Dinner Key Marina. I was about 7 or 8 maybe(?) My dad captained a sports fisherman - a Hatteras if I am not mistaken. Well his boss, who was the owner of the Gillete company, was up north (as he was during the summer months) and my dad thought it would be a great idea to essentially 'steal' the boat for a weekend outing with his wife and daughter to the Bahamas. It was not a 'well planned' escape and the weather was VERY rough. 5-6 foot swells. It was the first and last time I was ever sea-sick. Not knowing any better I went below to lie down. I remember being in the forward berth, with my forehead pressed tightly against the port hole, watching the waves crash, over, and over...and over, against the glass. Finally my mom came down to get me and the minute I hit the fresh air, I was fine.
I will never forget that crossing.
Cookies probably would have made it better ;)Handmade Jewelry Havenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11410753550148112360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717926498377706091.post-33009197878012899892016-02-08T08:11:38.678-08:002016-02-08T08:11:38.678-08:00Thanks Byn! I've spent watches laying out on the trampoline of our cat (tethered of course), and staring up at the stars as the winds powered us to our destination. The funny thing about night that I've found is that is when the big ships seem to come out to play. You can sail all day and not see a soul, but when night falls all of the sudden you are surrounded by things that look like floating apartment complexes. Glad you enjoyed the trip...at least enough to spare some cookies. ;-)

-Mike
ThisRatSailedMike Boydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14279932231094933575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1717926498377706091.post-46254496244715845362015-06-17T06:26:01.216-07:002015-06-17T06:26:01.216-07:00Yay for you!
